CCSF: first and last class [01/20/11]

The model stripping was breath taking... not the good way. It was surprising to see how casual she was about being naked in front of people.

Getting started: The thing that I didn't like about using the charcoal and chamois was that we had to erase all our work. Since it was my first figure drawing class, I wanted to keep some of it. Last semester, I learned to keep all work and record my progress and now, everyone is all erasing things they just drew and trying it again and again with different poses. New teacher, new technique.

What I did like was that the newsprint paper eventually turned greyish from the erasing the charcoal and it creates a nice background for the drawing that we are going to keep.

So in this class, we learned to draw stick figures and then develop from there. Looking at where everything is while drawing the person.

I used my compressed charcoal the whole time because I didn't want to open up anything new that I bought! Like it was so sacred or something! So the drawings were hard to erase with the chamois.

Little did I know that this will be my last class for this course if it weren't for my decision to drop everything and start over at Laney college the next day.

Medium: Compressed Charcoal - soft
